The Viking Speedway schedule is entering its stretch run with the season championship night on Aug. 24 just a couple weeks away, and those point races in the season standings are starting to come into focus.
Five different drivers took the checkered flag in feature races this past Saturday night, including Brandon’s Dustin Bitzan. He won in his Modified ahead of Shane Sabraski of Rice and Dan Ebert of Lake Shore.
Cyrus’ Travis Engebretson was the winner in the Midwest Modified feature. He beat out Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls in second place and Josh Roggatz of Montevideo in third.
Brooten’s Justin Vogel was the Street Stock winner ahead of Villard’s Brady Gerdes and Bryan Crandall of Herman. In Super Stocks, Sabraski wrapped up a good night for him by winning in front of Trevor Saurer of Dalton and Alexandria’s Jon Crouse in third.
Alexandria’s Ryan Mikkelson rounded out the feature winners with another win in his Limited Late Model. He beat out Ben Wolden of Fergus Falls in second and Rick Nelson of Alexandria.
Mikkelson might be on his way to a points title in that Limited Late Models class. He has five wins this summer and nine top-five finishes, both best in his class as he sits atop the point standings with 1,041 points.
The Viking Speedway will be back in action on Saturday night as the track hosts the fourth annual Fallen Lineman Night with all five regular classes running.
