Minnewaska boys and girls win four-team meet at Belgrade

The Lakers' depth was too much for the rest of the field in both the boys and girls meets.

The Minnewaska track and field teams won a four-team meet in Belgrade on Tuesday as the Lakers scored 117.5 points in the girls’ meet and 88.5 for the boys.

McKenzie Luetmer (400 dash, 63.3), Olivia Danielson (800-meter run, 2:29.6), Ava Chevalier (100-meter hurdles, 17.7), Brooklyn Meyer (long jump, 14-03.5), Kristen Glover (triple jump, 32-02) and Metaya Jergensen (discus, 104-06) all had individual wins for the Minnewaska girls, and the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays also won.

The Lakers’ depth was too much for Paynesville (85 points), Royalton (42) and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (30.5) in the team standings. Minnewaska had at least two top-five point scorers in 10 individual events.

Noah Danielson won the 800-meter run (2:21.6) to pace a 1-2-3 finish for the Minnewaska boys in that race, and he also took the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 6-inches.

Nick Ankeny (3,200-meter run, 11:28.5), Hunter Stadsvold (110-meter hurdles, 22.7), Jake Storkamp (300-meter hurdles, 59.4), and DeShon Boyd (long jump, 17-09.5) added individual wins for the Lakers, while the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relays also won for Minnewaska.
