Defender Anna Lee was named the Most Valuable Player for the Alexandria girls soccer team during its annual awards banquet.
The Cardinals wrapped up the season with a 9-7-3 record and advanced to the Section 8A North semifinals before losing to Detroit Lakes 1-0 in a shootout. Lee was named MVP for her efforts on defense this season.
Karsen Granning earned the team’s Hustle Award, Carly Dropik was named Most Improved and Jana Roste received the Coaches Award.
The Cardinals had six players who earned Central Lakes Conference awards for their efforts on the field. Lee, Granning and Hayley Burns were named all-conference, and Korkowski, Chelsey Swenson and Laura Dahlquist received all-conference honorable mention awards.
Swenson, Roste, Dropik and Lee earned the CLC Scholar award. Graduating seniors from the 2014 team are Amy Perrault, Korkowski, Kaila Dewanz, Swenson, Roste, Dropik and Lee.
