The West Central Area boys basketball team improved to 3-0 with another easy win on Thursday night, beating St. John’s Prep 75-48.
The Knights led by 11 points in this one as they jumped out to a 13-2 lead right away. The Johnnies cut that to a 21-17 deficit, but WCA pulled away from there by closing the first half on a 21-9 run.
“We played solid in every phase of the game tonight,” head coach Kraig Hunter said. “It was a great team effort.”
The Knights’ senior big man, Jay Zimmerman, led that charge with another double-double. He finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Hunter Pfingsten added 12 points and Isaiah Westby had 11,
The Knights hit on 27-of-54 field goals, including 11-of-20 threes. They also won the rebounding battle 34-30, while committing 16 turnovers to the Johnnies’ 21.
