Alexandria senior Kaisa Bosek, who in the winter of 2020 competed in the Winter Youth Olympic Games , is continuing her journey in the biathlon as she recently competed in the 2021 National Championships in West Yellowstone, Mont.

The championships took place March 25-28 where Bosek won one gold and one silver medal, while also taking home a fourth-place finish. More than 140 athletes competed. Athletes and coaches were tested for COVID-19 three days ahead of the first race, and they also took morning health evaluations every day before competing.

Bosek’s run at the championships started with a 6-kilometer sprint race with three 2-K laps of skiing and one prone and one standing shooting competition between laps. The race venue was more than a mile difference in altitude from what Bosek is used to in Alexandria as she came in fourth during that race.
Bosek bounced back on March 27 to take gold in the 7.5-K pursuit race, which consisted of five 1.5-K laps and two prone and two standing shooting stations. High winds greeted competitors on March 28 in the 5K Super Sprint race where Bosek took second through the five 1-K laps and two prone and two standing shooting stations.
