The Alexandria Blizzard was shut out on the road for the second straight game in a 7-0 loss on Saturday night in North Iowa.

The West-Division-leading Bulls (21-5-1, 43 points) scored two in the first and blew the game open with four in the third period.

Caden Smith led the way with a hat trick and an assist for a four-point game, while Jac Triemert had two goals and Garrett Freeman and Carson Jones each added one.

Evan Babekuhl got the shutout in net with 24 saves, while Joey Greilich took the loss for the Blizzard (10-15-1, 21 points) with 27 saves and the seven goals allowed.

North Iowa is running away with the division and has already clinched a playoff spot with a 15-point cushion over second-place Willmar (14-12, 28 points) heading into Sunday. Alexandria is securely in the fourth spot in the division ahead of New Ulm (4-18-2, 10 points), with Granite City (13-8, 26 points) sitting in third place.

Alexandria and North Iowa will play again on Sunday with a 1 p.m. drop of the puck at Mason City Arena.
