The Alexandria Blizzard couldn’t quite hold on in the third period of a back-and-forth game against Willmar in the team’s lone game of the weekend on Saturday night.

Willmar won 6-5 after scoring three goals in the final frame, including the game-winner from Kaleb Miller at 14:53.

That put the finishing touches on a comeback where the WarHawks trailed 5-4 midway through the third after Dallas Duckson and Michael DeBrito goals for the Blizzard in the third.

Duckson had two goals on the night to lead Alexandria. Kaden Peterson added a goal and an assist, while Austin McNeil scored Alexandria’s other goal in the second period.

Luke Weberg got the win in net for Willmar by tallying 22 saves around the five goals allowed. Joey Greilich took the loss for the Blizzard with 25 saves and the six goals allowed.

The Blizzard fell to 5-5-1 with 11 points after the loss, while Willmar moved to 5-8-0 with 10 points. Alexandria is scheduled to host Granite City (5-1-0, 10 points) on Nov. 21 at 7:10 p.m. back at the Runestone Community Center.
