The Section 6A boys hockey tournament bracket became official on Wednesday, and Alexandria will try to make a fourth straight section-championship game appearance after getting the second seed in the field this year.

The Cardinals (17-8) have won four of their last five games heading into the postseason. Their opening-round game will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Runestone Community Center at 7 p.m. Alexandria will play the winner of seventh-seeded Morris-Benson Area (19-4) and 10th-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek (8-16-1). Those two teams play on Saturday afternoon at 3.

The Section 6A Tournament will move to the MAC in St. Cloud for the semifinals on Feb. 22 and again for the championship on Feb. 27. With a win on Tuesday, Alexandria would play the winner of third-seeded Little Falls (18-5-1) and sixth-seeded Sartell-St. Stephen (6-18-1) on Feb. 22.

St. Cloud Cathedral is the No. 1 seed in the 6A field. The Crusaders are 20-2-1 this season and ranked first in the latest Class A Let’s Play Hockey polls. St. Cloud Cathedral won the only game with Alexandria during the regular season in a 5-2 game that was tied after two periods.
