The Alexandria boys hockey team got a big Section 6A win on Tuesday night as the Cardinals (15-7) completed the season sweep of Little Falls (17-5-1) by downing the Flyers 4-0.
Caleb Strong led the charge for Alexandria. One night after scoring two goals and the game-winner in a 4-3 win over Fergus Falls, Strong had a hat trick against the Flyers.
He scored two in the first period, including one on the power play. Josiah Gronholz added a second-period goal to make it 3-0 before Strong finished things off with his third of the night late in that middle frame.
That was plenty of support for Landyn James in net. He turned aside all 28 shots he faced. James is 9-2 now this season with a 1.78 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. Strong upped his season totals to 21 goals and 39 points overall with his 18 assists.
