The Alexandria Blizzard is hoping that turning the calendar will put an ugly month behind them.

The North Iowa Bulls (30-6-2-0) sit tied for the top spot in the West Division after beating the Blizzard (15-15-2-1) 5-1 at the Runestone Community Center on Friday night. The loss ended a1-6 January for the Blizzard.

Jackson Vercellono, a former Northstar Christian Academy Knight, started the scoring for the Bulls. Lucas Wahlin added two goals while North Iowa Opened up a 5-0 lead.

Chayse Haberman prevented a shutout by scoring with 35 seconds left in the third period.

Bailey Rosch made 43 saves in goal for the Blizzard.

Alexandria travels to Breezy Point to take on the last-place North Stars on Saturday night.
