The Northstar Christian Academy did what it does best: win hockey games.
The Knights are now 25-0 after sweeping a series in Des Moines against the Buccaneers AAA last weekend. After a 3-2 win on Saturday night, NCA got out to a hot start in the Sunday matinee game.
Tyler Ryder put the Knights on the board with a goal just under six minutes into the game. Des Moines tied the game in the first before the Knights retook the lead midway through the second. Jacob Napier’s shot from the point found the back of the net to put the Knights up one.
The lead didn’t last as the Buccaneers tied the game before the intermission.
Early in the third period, Talon Sigurdson scored his second goal of the weekend to give NCA a 3-2 lead. Anthony Menghini’s empty-net goal put the game on ice as the Knights moved to 25-0. Camdyn Barber stopped 24 shots in goal en route to a win.
The Knights will head to Bemidji on Saturday to face The Rink Academy in a two-game series.
