Blizzard hockey: Bulls take game one in West Division finals
The Alexandria Blizzard is down 1-0 heading back home for game two of the best-of-three series in the West Division finals.
The North Iowa Bulls hosted Alexandria on Friday night in game one of the playoff series and took a 3-1 game on their home ice. The Blizzard outshot the Bulls 32-31 but could not find the back of the net until Sam Prisbe scored unassisted at 8:45 of the third.
By that point, it was a 3-0 North Iowa lead. The Bulls went scoreless in the first but lit the lamp just 24 seconds into the second period when Brendan Studioso scored. Cam Fagerlee added a goal at 12:35, and Matt Dahlseide scored at 8:14 of the third to help secure the win.
Ville Hyttinen started in net for Alexandria and stopped 28 shots but allowed the three goals to take the loss. Dysen Skinner had 31 saves in the win.
Alexandria needs to win game two of this series tonight, Saturday, to force a game three back in North Iowa at 6:30 on Sunday night. The Blizzard and the Bulls drop the puck at the Runestone Community Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday for game two.
