Hockey: Wyatt Johnson's hat trick helps lead the Alexandria Blizzard to 6-3 win over Minnesota Loons

Alexandria scored the final three goals in the game to secure the win.

The Alexandria Blizzard got back in the win column on Wednesday by outscoring the Minnesota Loons 3-0 in the final period and a half of a 6-3 win.

Joe Gronholz scored the go-ahead goal for Alexandria midway through the second frame, while Sean Kenny and Wyatt Johnson scored the third period goals for Alexandria.

Johnson had a hat trick in the win as, along with his third period goal, Johnson scored twice in the first period. Matt McIntyre scored a goal in the second frame.

Ryan Hadland had three assists in the win, while Kenny and McIntyre had two assists, while Ashton Collings, Karsten Senden, Jayden Luck, and Jack Whitemore had one.

Alexandria had a 53-30 shot on goal advantage in the win. Alex Lamont earned the win in net for Alexandria with 27 saves.

The Blizzard (24-9-2) will play on the road against the Loons (10-26-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, but first host the Willmar WarHawks (15-18-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
