The Willmar WarHawks earned its third win of the season over the Alexandria Blizzard on Saturday by holding it to just one goal in a 4-1 game.
One goal ties Alexandria’s season low. Each team scored once in the first frame, and Willmar led 1-0 with a goal three minutes in.
Alexandria’s (21-8-2) lone goal came from Charlie Larsen at the end of the first frame (assists from Sean Kenny and Joe Gronholz).
With a Joe Fields goal in the second frame, Willmar led 2-1, and with empty net goals by Gunnar Sibley and Luke McCarthy in the final two minutes of the game, Willmar held on to the win.
Willmar (14-17-1) had the edge in shots on goal, 40-30, in Saturday’s contest.

The Blizzard are now 3-3 so far this season against the WarHawks.
Alexandria plays on the road against the Minnesota Loons (10-23-2) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
