Hockey: Blizzard top Texas Brahmas to open Fraser Cup Championship Tournament

The Blizzard took care of business against the Texas Brahmas to start the 2023 Fraser Cup Championship Tournament on Wednesday.

The Alexandria Blizzard made the most of their first ever game at the Fraser Cup Championship Tournament on Wednesday as they earned a 4-1 win over the Texas Brahmas in St. Peters, Missouri

Ryan Hadland scored a goal in the first to give the Blizzard a 1-0 lead in the first period while second period goals by Wyatt Johnson, Cole Klingbeil, and Justin Kingery gave the Blizzard a 4-0 lead heading into the final period.

The Blizzard had a 36-16 shot on goal advantage in the win. Konrad Kausch earned the win in net for the Blizzard with 15 saves.

Sean Kenny had two assists in the win for the Blizzard, while Calvin Knight, Justin Wasvick, Matt McIntyre, and Jameson O’Flynn had one assist in the win.

Alexandria rounds out pool play on Thursday with a game at 4 p.m. against the Granite City Lumberjacks.

The top two teams from the pool advance into Saturday’s semifinals.
