Hockey: Blizzard advance to Fraser Cup Championship game

A Calvin Knight goal at the end of the second period pushed Alexandria into the NA3HL Championship Game, where they’ll meet the Granite City Lumberjacks at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The Alexandria Blizzard have advanced to the NA3HL Fraser Cup Championship after defeating the Oregon Tradesmen, 3-2, on Saturday.

The Blizzard will play the Granite City Lumberjacks in the championship game on Sunday at 3 p.m. in St. Peters, Missouri. The championship game is being live-streamed on HockeyTV (subscription required).

In Saturday’s semifinal win, Alexandria jumped ahead 2-0 in the first period with a Hayden DeMars power play goal and a Ryan Hadland even-strength goal. The Tradesmen scored two goals early in the second period, but a Calvin Knight at the end of the second period gave the Blizzard the 3-2 win.

Alexandria finished the game with a 33-29 shot on goal advantage.

Konrad Kausch earned the win in net for the Blizzard and had 27 games in the semifinal win
