Hockey: Alexandria native Joe Gronholz signs tender with Minnesota Wilderness

Alexandria high school alum and current Alexandria Blizzard player Joe Gronholz has signed a tender with the Minnesota Wilderness.

The NA3HL and the Alexandria Blizzard announced on Thursday that Joe Gronholz, has signed a tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness (NAHL Tier II) in Cloquet.

Players who sign a tender with an NAHL team have their rights belonging to that team within the NAHL and may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.

After graduating out of the Alexandria high school program last spring, Gronholz has played full time for the Blizzard and has been one of their most consistent producers.

Gronholz is second on the Blizzard in scoring with 40 points (16 goals and 24 assists). Gronholz had played sporadically for the Blizzard in years prior.

Gronholz and the Blizzard are on the road on Thursday to face the Minnesota Loons at 7:30 p.m., on Friday against the New Ulm Steel on Friday at 7:10 p.m. The Blizzard wrap up the weekend with a home tilt against the Granite City Lumberjacks on Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
