The Alexandria Area Hockey Association (AAHA) recently sent its girls U8 team to take in a unique experience at a women’s college hockey game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
At the game, the girls had the opportunity to meet Minnesota’s mascot, Goldy, and to play hockey on the ice during an intermission.

AAHA says the opportunity was set up by a Mite Coordinator, Andrew Olson, who reached out to the Minnesota program, and both parties were able to agree on a date for this event to happen.
AAHA has had opportunities in the past for the boys teams to go to Minnesota Wild games and wants to create opportunities for girls to take in big experiences at big games, as they did on Feb. 11, 2023.
Wisconsin won the game 7-5.
