Megan and Bethany Hasz both finished in the top 10 among the best cross country runners in the nation at the Nike Cross Nationals race on Saturday in Portland, Oregon.
Megan took fifth place in the 5-kilometer race with a time of 17:40 while Bethany finished in ninth with a time of 17:42. Allie Ostrander of Alaska took first place in the national race with a time of 17:19.
The Nike Cross nationals is a meet comprised of eight regional qualifying meets in the United States. Bethany and Megan qualified for the national meet at the Nike Cross Heartland race on November 9. Bethany took first place in the race with a time of 17:06 and Megan took third in 17:18.
It wrapped up another great cross-country season for the sisters from Alexandria. Megan won the Class AA state title this season, while Bethany took second. Those finishes were reversed two seasons ago at the state meet as the Hasz sisters continue to cement themselves as the top cross country runners in the state.
