Boys golf: Alexandria in sixth place after day one of state

The Alexandria boys golf team has some work to do in order to win a championship heading into day two of the Class AAA state tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

The Cardinals are in sixth place after day one of the tournament, trailing first-place St. Thomas Academy by 10 shots. Alexandria fired a team score of 302. Edina and Waconia are tied for second with a 297. Stillwater is fourth at 299 and Maple Grove shot a 300 and sits in fifth place.

Alexandria’s Braeden Sladek and Hunter Rebrovich both led the Cardinals with rounds of 2-over par 74. Noah Boraas shot a 76, and Grant Rebrovich rounded out the scoring with a 78. Joe Bigger shot an 81 and Wyatt Cavers finished off the lineup with an 83. Four different players are tied for the tournament lead with a 2-under par 70.

The Alexandria boys will tee off from the 10th tee for the second round on Wednesday morning, starting with Cavers at 8:15. Bigger, Grant Rebrovich, Hunter Rebrovich, Sladek and Boraas follow in order nine minutes apart after that.
