The final matchup of the Junior 10-12 Division tournament will take place on Saturday at 8 a.m. on the 10th hole between top-ranked Charlie Hanson and third-ranked Carver Larson.
The semifinal matchups began on the 10th tee on Friday morning. The nine-hole match play was tightly contested before determining the two winners.
Hanson def. Sladek, 3-2
Ashton Sladek went up one on No. 10 following Hanson’s early bogey. Hanson squared the match when Sladek had a bogey of his own on No. 11, and Hanson’s pars on holes 12 and 13 put him in the driver's seat with a two-hole advantage.
Sladek trailed by two heading into the 16th green. After he barely missed his par putt, Hanson saved par and secured the win. Hanson was one stroke above par through six holes.
Larson def. Boe, 2-1
Hanson wasn’t alone in winning three straight holes. After a double bogey on No. 10, Larson rebounded by winning holes 13, 14 and 15. Both he and Carson Boe of Cottonwood shot par in their final three holes as Larson advanced to the finals with a 2-1 win.
Larson was 2-over par and had an impressive birdie on the par-3 13th hole.
