Alexandria is well represented on the Southwest Minnesota State baseball team this season with three former Cardinals helping the Mustangs to a 10-1 record so far this season.
Jacob Munsch, Derick Swenson and Chris Koep have all seen time on the field in the early season. Munsch is a senior who is hitting .421 in 19 at-bats. He has also driven in nine runs, while playing third base for the Mustangs.
Swenson, a junior, has started 10 games for SMSU this year. He has amassed a .462 average in 39 at-bats. He leads the team in runs scored with 22, while also collecting nine RBIs. Seven of his 18 hits have gone for extra bases.
Koep is entering his freshman season on the mound. He has a 2.25 ERA in eight innings so far. Koep won his only decision and has allowed just six hits, while striking out 10.
