The Brandon-Evansville football team started the season 0-2 and 1-3, but the Chargers have climbed above .500 with a third straight win on Friday night.
Brandon-Evansville (4-3) has averaged more than 58 points per game during this three-game win streak after posting a season-high point total in a 66-6 win at Bertha-Hewitt (2-5) on Friday.
“Great game in all phases,” B-E head coach Tim Pattrin said. “The line adjusted to the defense they were seeing and blocked very well. Our backs ran hard and were difficult to tackle. Titus (Fuller) threw the ball well and our receivers made some great catches. It was great to get everyone into the game for a total team win. We will enjoy this and get ready for the quick turn around and a tough Verndale team."
The Chargers wasted no time getting started against the Bears as Fuller rushed for an early 49-yard touchdown. It was part of three first-quarter touchdowns as the Chargers scored 22 points in each of the first two quarters to lead 44-0 at the half.
Brandon-Evansville had 449 yards of total offense to Bertha-Hewitt’s 239. Most of that came on the ground with 341 yards for B-E on 36 carries.
Fuller threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those went to Stevie Hamilton, while Dezmond White caught another touchdown.
Fuller also led the ground game with 112 yards and two touchdowns on just 7 carries. Tyler Bitzan had 9 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown, and Ryland Yeats and Sully Wales scored rushing touchdowns, as well.
Brandon-Evansville’s defense was equally as dominant with five turnovers created. Lucas Fuller, Bitzan and Titus Fuller each had interceptions.
The Chargers took care of business the last three weeks against three teams with a combined record of 4-16. Now perhaps their toughest test of the season awaits against Section 4, 9-man rival Verndale on Wednesday night when the Pirates come to Brandon for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Verndale is 7-0 after getting a 38-31 win over Wheaton-Herman-Norcross (5-2) on Friday. The Pirates average 55.7 points per game and are holding teams to 14.4.
