The Brandon-Evansville football team wrapped up its homecoming week by running all over a winless Rothsay team on Friday night in a 58-8 final.

The Tigers (0-6) got their only touchdown on a 15-yard pass play in the third quarter. The Chargers (3-3) made sure the game was out of reach by then with five touchdowns already on the board.

“Great to be home for the first time since game No. 1 (on Sept. 3),” B-E head coach Tim Pattrin said. “We had a great crowd for homecoming and they really gave the team energy. Our line did a great job opening up holes for our backs to run through. We did a very good job of finishing runs and not going down on first contact. Our defense tackled well in space and did their jobs. Great all-around team win."

The Chargers wasted no time getting started as senior running back Tyler Bitzan scored on a 32-yard run in the first quarter. That was part of a big day on the ground as B-E rushed for 388 yards and totaled 462 yards of offense on 47 plays.

Bitzan had 103 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Senior quarterback Titus Fuller continues to produce on the ground from that QB position too as he led the Chargers with 155 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Logan Haburn (7-74) added two touchdowns and Ryland Yeats (4-56) also scored. Haburn, a sophomore, had a team-high 10 tackles defensively as well.

The Chargers will go back on the road on Oct. 15 against a section opponent in Bertha-Hewitt (2-4). They then welcome in one of the top 9-man teams in the state for the regular-season finale on Oct. 20 when Verndale (6-0) comes to Brandon.

The Pirates are back to their winning ways this season. They average 58.7 points and are holding opponents to just 11.7 a night.
