Brandon-Evansville had been rolling through its last three football games. With a chance to go 4-1 before a rematch of the Section 4-9 man title game against Hancock, the Chargers slipped up against Wheaton-Herman-Norcross.

The Warriors (2-3) scored three consecutive touchdowns late in the game to knock off the Chargers 40-20 on Friday night. After Kobe Reiland’s 560-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Schaffran out B-E up 20-19, it was all WHN.

Three short-yard rushing touchdowns out the Chargers away. However, the Reiland-Schaffran connection was working all night. Midway through the second quarter, Reliand found Schaffran on a 24-yard touchdown pass.

Cade Carlson returned to the lineup after suffering an injury last week and scored with 30 seconds left in the first quarter to give B-E an 8-0 lead.

B-E gave up 411 yards of total offense on Friday, including 193 yards through the air. The Warriors went 17-for-29 passing with zero interceptions.

“Hats off to Wheaton,” B-E head coach Tim Pattrin said. “They played a tough physical game and we did not. We have to come together as a team this week, and get ready for a tough Hancock team.”
