The Minnewaska football team has had its issues finishing drives with touchdowns this season. But after giving up the first score of the game, the Lakers found the endzone on four consecutive trips to move to 2-3 on the season.

After Eli Fletcher gave the Mainstreeters a 7-0 lead, Minnewaska got the ball rolling with a safety late in the first quarter. On its next possession, Tyson Meyer punched in the one-yard touchdown before Aaron Ver Steeg converted the two-pointer.

On the Laker’s next offensive possession, Mitchell Gruber hit Jackson Stadsvold in stride for a 61-yard touchdown pass to give Minnewaska a 17-7 lead. Minnewaska took a 24-7 lead into the half on Meyer’s second touchdown of the game.

Sauk Centre cut Minnewaska’s lead to nine late in the third quarter, but Stadsvold’s second touchdown of the game and a 27-yard field goal by Isaac Koening secured the win in the fourth quarter.

Meyer had 129 yards rushing on 18 carries with two touchdowns. Stadsvold had two catches for 64 yards and a touchdown in the win. Gruber completed 10 passes for 269 yards.
