The Minnesota Football Showcase at U.S. Bank Stadium is an annual high school football all-star game that features many of the best seniors in the state, and the 2019 event on Dec. 7 featured some nice performances from area athletes.
Alexandria senior defensive back Derrek Piepho and Osakis running back Luke Imdieke both brought home MVP Awards for their performances for the North team. The game matches up all-stars from the North squad against a South all-star team.
The South won the game 13-3, but Imdieke was named the North’s MVP on offense. He ran the ball for 58 yards on 11 carries against a South defense that limited the North offense all day.
Piepho was the defensive MVP for the North squad. He had a huge day with two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Piepho committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth to play football this past fall. Imdieke did the same for Minnesota State University-Moorhead as the two will play their college football at the Division II level in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference starting next year.
