The Minnewaska football team had no problem moving to 6-1 on Friday night as the Lakers took care of Sauk Centre in a 49-14 game.
The Mainstreeters are still searching for their first win. They kept things close early, but Minnewaska blew things open in the second quarter to take a 35-6 lead into the break.
Tyson Meyer and Grant Jensen both had three rushing touchdowns for the Lakers. Meyer ran for 139 yards on 10 carries, and Jensen added 77 yards on the same amount of touches. Darion Alexander added a touchdown and 84 yards on 10 carries, too.
Minnewaska completed just two balls in the passing game, but the Lakers didn’t need to throw. Their ground game put up 357 yards.
The Mainstreeters had 212 yards rushing themselves, but could find the end zone just twice on a Nolan Ziemer 15-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Hornick and a 41-yard run from Irvin Brennes.
Minnewaska will go on the road for its final game of the regular season on Wednesday. The Lakers are at Osakis against a Silverstreaks team that is 5-2 and has won four straight contests.
