Another day, another win for the Alexandria girls cross country team.

The Cardinals have an experienced group this season, and they are showing it by racking up a lot of wins. The latest came at the Rocori Invite as Alexandria finished with 42 team points. Section and conference rivals Willmar (56) and Rocori (70) were second and third.

“Our girls ran well with Aleah Miller leading the team with a great time of 19:33,” Alexandria head coach Travis Hochhalter said. “The girls believed in themselves and pushed through with tough races in the heat.”

Miller’s time was good for third place overall. Caitlin Bright was not far behind in fifth with a time of 19:39.7. Giselle Jahner was seventh (20:03), Emma Ecker was ninth (20:04.8) and Jaelyn Miller rounded out the scoring in 18th place (20:31.1).

Taelor Dummer was 22nd (20:50.4) and Bethany Miller wrapped things up in 26th place (21:07.2).

The Alexandria boys varsity team finished fourth overall with 114 points. Willmar was first at 37 and Bemidji rounded out the top three with 48 points.

Jacob Kleven led the way with one of the top races of the meet. He finished fourth overall in a time of 17:04. Bemidji’s Gage Mostad won the meet by more than six seconds over Moorhead’s Evan Myran with a time of 16:36.5.

Dane Galloway was Alexandria’s second runner in eighth place with a time of 17:20.6. Brian Denke was 26th (18:15), Joey Carlson 31st (18:22.4) and Bennett Wirth finished off the team scoring in 47th place (18:41.3).

Cameron Hochsprung also ran varsity and was 76th in 19:14.9, while Joel Brault rounded out the lineup right behind him in 77th place (19:25.6).
