The Minnewaska cross country team hosted its invitational on Tuesday night.

The Laker girls were impressive – taking first place in the four-team field. Sydney Hagen finished in third with a time of 20:32.51, and Sydnie Chevalier took fifth place with her time of 20:44.81.

Six Minnewaska girls finished consecutively from ninth to 14th place. Molly Hjelm (21:20.56), Elsey Hagen (2:20.56), Ava Chevalier (21:39.34), Kiearra Wilmes (22:07.95), Kristen Glover (22:08.83) and Tegan Stark (22:20.80) ran in the front half of the pack on Tuesday.

Serena Melgren took 22nd with a time of 24:52.48. Rounding out the group was Ali Femrite in 27th place. She had a time of 26:27.99.

The top-five runners for Minnewaska finished with a team score of 38, which was good for first place. Taking second place was Sauk Centre (51). Paynesville Area took third place (57), while Benson-Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg took fourth (83).

The Minnewaska boys did not have a full team compete on Tuesday. Eighth grader Maeson Tank took fifth place with a time of 17:36.64. Nick Ankeny was the only other Laker to compete at the varsity level. He finished with a time of 19:35.24.

Benson-KMS dominated with a team score of 26. Sauk Centre (49) finished in second, while Paynesville Area took third (53).
