The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team breezed past Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday night in a 70-35 win over the Comets.
Senior center Emily Friedrich had a big night for the Chargers with 28 points. Carrigan Okerlund added 15 points as Brandon-Evansville jumped out early and never looked back on its way to a 2-1 record.
Friedrich was efficient around the bucket. She finished by shooting 13-of-14 from the field. Turnovers were also a key as the Chargers forced 28 from the Comets and had just seven themselves.
“They turned it over and we were able to get the ball to Emma and she made her shots,” Brandon-Evansville head coach Dick Simpson said. “Pressure defense kind of forced a bunch of turnovers. We had a lot more depth, too.”
The win evened the Chargers’ Little Eight Conference record at 1-1 this year. They will now turn their attention to an out-of-conference game at Osakis tonight, Friday, with a 7:30 tip.
