The Alexandria boys swimming and diving team’s season began Friday in a 111-75 loss to the powerhouse Brainerd swimming and diving team.
The Warriors finished in first place at the Central Lakes Conference swimming and diving championship last year. Head coach Richard Smith said Alexandria got off to a strong start in their first competition despite taking the loss.
“Overall, the Cardinals looked quick off the blocks and strong in between the walls, but work will be done to get in and out of our walls before Melrose/Sauk Centre comes to town,” Smith said.
The Cardinals’ 200-medley relay team of Patrick Chromey, Nick Chromey, D’Anthony Moorer and Max Jacobson picked up a victory with a time of 1:49.
Nick Chromey picked up two wins in the meet with a 100 individual medley finish of 2:11 and a 100 breaststroke at 1:05.
