Card girls edge Willmar 60-59 for CLC lead

Kate Gearman's layup in the waning seconds gave the Alexandria Cardinals a little revenge on their earlier loss to Willmar as they edged out their opponents 60-59 in the battle for the Central Lakes Conference lead.

Kate Gearman's layup in the waning seconds gave the Alexandria Cardinals a little revenge on their earlier loss to Willmar as they edged out their opponents 60-59 in the battle for the Central Lakes Conference lead.

The win capped a comeback for the Redbird that saw them down by 10 in the second half. They used a solid performance at the free throw line to edge their way back in, hitting 13 of 17.

Angela Christianson finished the night with 29 points, hitting eight of eight at the charity stripe in the last five minutes of the game. Sam Trumm had 16 and Lauren Trumm added 13.

The win gives Alexandria a one game lead in the Central Lakes Conference lead with five games left on the docket.
