Great early season performances led to four relay victories and individual first place finishes for the Cardinal boys' track and field team as they opened the season at the five-team Moorhead indoor invitational Saturday.

"Although the beginning of the season was slowed by spring break last week and a snow storm this week, the Cardinals did a great job of heating up the track and providing some exciting competition," said Jerry Amundson, Card boys' head coach.

Dan Gorghuber earned a pair of first place finishes as he won the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.22, and was first in the 400-meter run as he clocked in at 53.54.

Ben Vickstrom also put in some superior performances as he won the 55-meter dash in 6.74 and anchored a pair of winning relays as well.
