The Cardinal boys picked up their fourth consecutive win, downing Rocori 49-37 in the regular season finale for both squads.
The win improved the Redbirds' mark to 13-11 overall as they entered the Section 8AAA tournament opener at Maple Grove yesterday, Tuesday.
"Behind a strong defensive effort, the Cards were able to get consecutive stops consistently, allowing [Rocori] only 10 points in the first half," said Alexandria head coach Forrest Witt. "The kids set the tone early with their efforts on the boards and their energy getting to loose balls.
"During the second half, Rocori made a couple of runs, but we managed to get the necessary stops and offensive conversions to negate these attempts.
"Alexandria was quicker to the ball, more physical and played with great heart Friday night," he added. "The key stat was our ability to control the boards as we outrebounded Rocori 36-23."
