The Brandon-Evansville baseball team picked up a pair of wins over Ortonville on Thursday behind two well-pitched games.
Dezmond White picked up the game-two win as the Chargers pulled out a 12-2. White threw six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Kyle Schaffran was 2-for-4 at the place with two RBIs to the Chargers’ offense.
“Dezmond White pitched very well tonight and showed a lot of confidence while delivering six quality innings on the mound,” B-E head coach Brian Perleberg said. “Kyle Schaffran and Riley Perleberg led us offensively, and our defense played its best game of the young season. It was nice to be playing baseball again after another week of having to battle tough weather.”
Riley Perleber, Titus Fuller, Xavier Grussing, White and Tyler Bitzan all recorded an RBI in game two.
White’s performance was the second of two solid pitching outings for B-E. Bitzan didn’t allow a run and struck out 11 batters in the Chargers’ 8-3 game-one win.

Schaffran was 3-for-4 at the place with a double and an RBI. His run-scoring hit was part of a five-run sixth inning where Riley Perleberg, Brady Perleberg and Schaffran drove in the game-clinching runs.
“We received an excellent pitching performance from Tyler Bitzan, which was great to see so early in the season,” Brian Perleberg said. “Tyler worked ahead in the count and kept his pitch-count low by consistently throwing strikes and allowing his defense to make plays behind him.”
