The Hermantown Hawks defeated the Alexandria Cardinal boys' hockey team 5-1 in the State Class A tournament today.

Alexandria scored the first goal of the game in the second period as Jordan Domine scored just five seconds in on an assist by Nick Swanson.

The Hawks outshot the Cards 56-14 as the No. 2 seed scored four goals in the second period to take the lead. Neither team scored in either the first or the third periods.

Alexandria will now play tomorrow at either 10 a.m. or noon at Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.
