Boys' basketball results

Undefeated Long Prairie-Grey Eagle outscored the West Central Area boys' basketball team 43-28 in the second half on its way to a 78-51 win over the Knights on Tuesday.

Undefeated Long Prairie-Grey Eagle outscored the West Central Area boys' basketball team 43-28 in the second half on its way to a 78-51 win over the Knights on Tuesday.

The Thunder got 26 points and 18 rebounds from Duane Miller to lead his team to its ninth straight win to start the season. LPGE outrebounded the Knights 34-16 and added 21 points from Cody Sprenger.

"Our inability to rebound and giving up too many transition baskets led to the final margin in this game," WCA head coach Kraig Hunter said. "There were numerous times we had the [deficit] to 10 points and would have a good defensive possession only to give up an offensive rebound. Their rebounding on the other end also led to some easy transition points for them. "

The Thunder shot 59 percent from the field, including a 6-of-10 night from behind the three-point line. The Knights countered by shooting 38 percent and 8-of-20 from three.

Dakotah Kashmark led WCA with 15 points. Drew Peterson finished with 13 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals.

"We played much better than the final score indicated," Hunter said. "I was happy with some of the things we did against their zone, but like I previously stated, we cannot give up fastbreak points and offensive rebounds and expect to win."

The loss dropped the Knights to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Prairie South Conference.
