The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team handed out its season-ending awards through a banquet on Facebook Live recently where senior guard Kristen Kokett was named the Chargers’ MVP.
Kokett tallied 144 total points this past season and dished out 45 assists, grabbed 86 rebounds and jumped on 83 steals and 70 defensive deflections.
Junior center Mikenna Pattrin earned the team’s Offensive Player of the Year Award. Pattrin put in 322 points on 42% shooting overall. She also grabbed 192 rebounds and helped out on the defensive end by setting a single-season B-E record with 51 blocks.
Junior guard Bailey Schaefer was the Chargers’ Defensive Player of the Year. Schaefer had 102 rebounds, 59 steals and 57 deflections, while also putting in 257 points.
Senior guard Haddey Zastrow earned the Hardest Worker Award. Zastrow set a single-season record for most threes made with 55, eclipsing the previous record of 52 held by Elizabeth Vinson and Carrigan Okerlund.
Sophomore Olivia Otto was named the most-improved player for B-E, and senior Maddie Otto earned the Best Teammate Award. Olivia put in 39 points and grabbed 33 rebounds as she got her feet wet at the varsity level this season. Maddie put in 104 points and grabbed 97 rebounds in her final season in a Chargers’ uniform.
