The Ashby boys basketball team is a win away from winning the Little Eight Conference title after sweeping the season series against Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday night.

The Arrows (14-7, 10-1 LEC) beat the Chargers 61-57 on Jan. 10. They came back on Tuesday and handed B-E (12-7, 7-4 LEC) a 67-57 loss ahead of a showdown with Parkers Prairie (17-4, 9-1 LEC) on Friday night in Ashby.

“It keeps us in line for a chance to win the conference title,” Ashby head coach John Holsten said. “The kids have worked hard. They really have played good basketball in stretches, and I’m happy for them that they’re in this position.”

Jaden Norby continues to play an all-around game for Ashby as he finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Torin Olson had 15 points. Jacob Cook finished with 13, and Hunter Norby made it four Arrows in double figures with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Ashby led 32-21 at halftime and then made the first three baskets of the second half to extend their lead to 43-26 at one point.

“We knew they had a run in them because they’re good shooters and good players,” Holsten said of B-E. “They made seven of their nine threes in the second half.”

The Chargers put up 36 second-half points, but the damage had already been done by the Arrows.

“Ashby deserved to win,” B-E head coach Trent Hintermeister said. “They played a full game, and we didn't. We play in streaks too often and that issue needs to change. Ashby played really hard for all 36 minutes. We had some good contributions off the bench tonight when we really needed it.”

Ashby will host Parkers Prairie at 7:15 p.m. on Friday in the last LEC game of the season for the Arrows. A win there would give Ashby the outright conference title.
