The West Central Area girls basketball team took care of business on Jan. 14 in Ashby and picked up a 74-43 win.

It was also a special night for sophomore guard Lexi Bright. In the first half, where the Knights (10-4) outscored the Arrows (3-12) 45-12, Bright scored her 1,000th-career point. She had 14 points overall on the night.

“The girls played hard and did a nice job of rallying together to grow the lead,” WCA head coach Eric Schoenbauer said. “We can still tighten up some loose ends to ensure we put ourselves in the best positions in games.”

On Thursday night, Ashby dropped its fifth straight game in a 56-35 loss to Rothsay (4-11). They travel to Hancock (9-4) on Thursday.

The Knights have won four straight since their 72-48 loss to Henning (14-1) on Jan. 2.
