The Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team could not hold on to a nine-point halftime lead as Battle Lake stole a 62-61 game on Friday night.
The Battlers (6-11, 4-5 Little Eight Conference) put up 32 points in the second half, and the Chargers (8-10, 3-4 LEC) went cold as they dropped their second straight game.
“This one is tough,” B-E head coach Trent Hintermeister said. “We had a double-digit lead in the first half. We just got outworked, and they deserved to win this game. Give them credit, they made plays in the second half to get them back in it.”
The Chargers had three players in double figures but shot just 38 percent (23-59). Tanner Bitzan had 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Marshall Riedel added 13 points and five rebounds, and Keagan Schiele chipped in 11 points, five assists and seven steals.
“In the next 13 days, we will play seven games,” Hintermeister said. “This is a tough stretch, and I'm excited to see how our guys respond.”
Up first in that stretch is a game at Underwood on Tuesday night. The Chargers then host Rothsay on Thursday night and Ashby on Friday night.
