Boys Basketball: Lakers split back-to-back

The Minnewaska boys basketball team split two games early this week.

On Monday night, the Lakers took down the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars (8-6) 54-46.

Minnewaska had a good shooting night, making 50 percent of its field goal attempts and 15-of-18 free throws.

Junior guard Grant Jensen led Minnewaska with 16 points and seven rebounds. Two other Lakers had double-digit points. Senior forward Jack Blevins had 13 and junior forward Luke Barkiem scored 11.

Minnewaska had its two-game win streak snapped the next night on the road in a close loss to Albany (11-4).

The Lakers led at the end of the first half 25-20. However, good defensive play held Minnewaska to 19 second-half points. The Huskies edged the lakers 45-44 to push Minnewaska’s record to 9-6 on the season.

Jensen had another strong game with 18 points. He was the only Laker to hit double digits.
