The Alexandria Red Junior Legion baseball team got a couple more wins on Tuesday as they swept a doubleheader with Aitkin. 

Game two was a 4-0 shutout behind a solid game from Will Suchy on the mound after Alexandria got away with a 4-3 win in the opener. Suchy struck out five and allowed just three hits and no walks and also had two hits at the plate himself.

Aidan Staples was 3-for-3 with an RBI in game two, while Devin Cimbura had a hit and drove in a run, as well.

Alexandria rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the five-inning contest during game one to score two runs and take a lead in the bottom of the third. Brock Lerfeld tripled in a run and Nate Hammerback drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. 

Lerfeld had two hits and two runs scored. Will Heydt also doubled and drove in a run. Reid Reisdorf went four innings for the win on the mound as he allowed one earned run, two runs total, on two hits and two walks. He struck out two.

Alexandria Red is now 16-11 on the season. They will take that record into the district tournament that starts on July 22 and then runs from July 26-28 in Marshall.
