The Alexandria baseball team bounced back from a 3-2 loss at Sauk Rapids-Rice on Monday by no-hitting St. Cloud Apollo at the MAC in St. Cloud in a 6-0 win on Tuesday.

Carter Stockert and Riley Nelson combined to stymie the Eagles (8-8, 5-7 Central Lakes Conference). Stockert threw 96 pitches through five innings of work but did not allow a hit. He struck out seven and walked three before Nelson finished off the no-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks over the final two frames. The Cardinals’ team ERA is now 1.32 over 106 innings pitched with 117 strikeouts as a staff.  

Junior Matthew Carlsen helped produced the offense. He doubled in Andrew Revering and Matthew Zick in the sixth inning to make it a 5-0 game. Carlsen had three RBIs, while Josh Wegner and Cody Richardson each drove in a run. Blake Hoelscher also added a 2-for-4 day at the plate with two runs scored.

Alexandria is now 12-3 overall and 10-2 in the CLC heading into the regular-season finale on Thursday at Brainerd. The Warriors are 11-6 and 8-4 in league play after dropping a game to Rocori on May 21. First pitch in Brainerd is set for 5 p.m. Thursday.
