The Osakis baseball team made it look easy against St. John’s Prep on Tuesday night as the Silverstreaks improved to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in the Prairie Conference with a 7-0 win.

The Johnnies (0-10) are still searching for their first win, and it was not going to come against the top team in the conference. Senior Logan Hartshorn started on the mound and allowed just three hits and three walks in the complete-game shutout. He struck out 11.

“We just kind of took care of business today,” head coach Shad Schmidt said. “It wasn’t spectacular, but the guys went out and did what they needed to do. Logan pitched a great game and our defense played clean.”

The Silverstreaks had 11 hits, including two each from Carter Rost, Hartshorn and Hunter Infanger.

“Offensively, we started a little slow but we did see three different pitchers, and adjusting to the different speeds took a little time,” Schmidt said. “We hit the ball fine but had a lot of hard-hit balls to centerfield that resulted in outs. We are happy with the win, but we are definitely focusing on having a solid practice before Royalton comes to town.”

The Royals will be in Osakis on Thursday with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
