The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team traveled to Lake Park-Audubon on Thursday to play an 0-6 Raiders team and caught fire on their way to a school record in a 69-20 win.
The Chargers hit 13 threes in the game, eclipsing the old school record of 12 for threes made in a single game that they set last winter. Leading the way was sophomore guard Carrigan Okerlund, who tied the individual school record with Megan Kokett after nailing six triples.
“She hit four in the first half,” head coach Dick Simpson said. “I think we had nine threes in the first half. We moved the ball well and we had open shots and we hit them.”
Okerlund finished with 18 points with all of those coming from behind the arc. Emily Friedrich added 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Katie Kokett added eight as 10 of the 13 players scored for the Chargers. Sophomore point guard Kylee Hansen also found her shooters with six assists.
Brandon-Evansville finished the game shooting 24-of-62. The Chargers got almost twice as many field goal attempts as the Raiders finished 9-of-34. They also outrebounded Lake Park-Audubon 39-19.
The win moved the Chargers to 4-2 overall.
