The Ashby-Brandon- Evansville boy and girls track teams were excited to be back for the first meets of the season in Wheaton-Herman-Norcross on Thursday afternoon.

The boys took first place with a team score of 172. The girls took third place with 94.5 points.

“It was a great day for a track and field meet for the first time in nearly two years,” A-B-E head coach Zach Traphagen said. “Both our boys and girls teams put together some really solid performances today, but we definitely know there’s a ton of room for improvement. The biggest takeaway is the fact that we finally got back on the actual track to compete against other teams.”

The boys were led by Dierk Goeden, who broke the school record in the pole vault at a height of 10 feet.

“Our boys team has some nice depth that allows us to be able to get multiple place winners in a lot of events. A big congratulations goes to Dierk Goeden. It was a great day for both teams and the coaches are extremely proud of the kid’s efforts.”
