The Minnesota State High School League gave football and volleyball the green light to return to the fall season during a special meeting on Sept. 21.

That left activities directors looking to pull together schedules in quick order, and those schedules are now set for area programs.

Volleyball will get going with a full slate of games on Oct. 8. Alexandria hosts Sartell that night, while Osakis welcomes in Upsala, Brandon-Evansville hosts Underwood and Minnewaska hosts Melrose Area. Parkers Prairie will be at Hancock that night and West Central Area goes to Battle Lake. Games will start a little after 7 p.m.

Football has its primary opening night on Oct. 9, but West Central Area-Ashby has an Oct. 3 game on the schedule at 1 p.m. at Battle Lake High School against Otter Tail Central.

Alexandria opens its season at home on Oct. 9 at 7 against St. Francis. The Fighting Saints are out of Section 7-5A and went 4-6 a year ago.
