The Alexandria volleyball team overmatched a Section 8-3A opponent in Becker on Monday night as the Cardinals (9-1) swept the Bulldogs (2-9) by scores of 25-8, 25-20 and 25-20.
Senior Tessa McGrane initiated things with four ace serves in the first set that helped set the tone. Maggie Anderson had a team-high 12 kills and Maddi Buysse added nine. Kiya Issendorf spread the ball around with 31 assists, and also had a team-high 10 digs.
Alexandria is back in action Tuesday when another section opponent comes to town in Rocori (3-6) at 7 p.m. at Alexandria Area High School.

Johanson helps Osakis to a sweep
Osakis’ Alexis Johanson had a big night with 17 kills on her way to helping the Silverstreaks to a sweep of Upsala (8-4) on Monday night.
Johanson also had 18 digs, while she joined Greta Faber, Hayleigh Niehoff, Kali Schoeck, Kiley Kranz and Lexi Froemming in serving at a 100% clip.
It was Osakis’ third win in the last four matches as the Silverstreaks moved to 6-9 on the season. They are on the road to face Eden Valley-Watkins tonight, Tuesday, before a Prairie Conference match at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Thursday night at 7.

Lakers sweep Benson
Minnewaska got its first West Central Conference win of the season on Monday as the Lakers (2-10, 1-6 WCC) swept Benson (3-13, 1-6 WCC) by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-20.
Dreya Barsness had 13 kills to help lead the way. Haley Shea set up her hitters with 26 assists, and Barsness and Avery Fier both had a team-high 8 digs.
